NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Heritage Trail in Negaunee is seeing more expansions, with the city now placing more lighting on more than 4 miles of the trail. This opens up more exploring opportunities for residents and those visiting the heritage trail.
This is the second phase of lighting up the trail from their first phase which was completed last year. The cities’ goal is to have this open 24 hours a day for residents and visitors to trail hike, even through the winter.

The city manager says this helps with the safety of those exploring and that as the days are getting shorter and the temperature drops, these updates keep the night hiking well-lit.
