Monday morning the Michigan Court of Appeals Ruled that the bar on enforcing Michigan’s dormant 1931 Abortion ban does not apply to county prosecutors.
Later that day Planned Parenthood of Michigan called a digital press conference to address The Court’s decision, stating: “The injunction barring enforcement of Michigan’s 1931 criminal abortion ban remains in effect and still applies to all Michigan county prosecutors. The Michigan court of appeals order does not take effect for at least 21 days… we are committed to protecting abortion access in Michigan.”
After the press conference, Oakland County Judge Jacob J. Cunningham filed a restraining order to prevent the 1931 Criminal Abortion Ban from taking effect per Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s request.
