WASHINGTON, D.C. – Confidence in U.S. institutions has hit an all-time low, according to a recent Gallup poll. The poll saw significant declines in our major institutions like the Supreme Court, Congress and the presidency.
For background info, this is based on telephone interviews conducted from June first through the 20th of this year with a random sampling of a little more than one-thousand adults living in the U.S. Here’s what that poll found: in major institutions like police, public schools, newspapers, military, organized religion and big business all saw declines in confidence compared to last year. The Supreme Court and Congress saw all-time lows in confidence, according to Gallup. The Supreme Court has been under fire for some significant rulings recently-, including overturning Roe v. Wade which legalized abortions in the U.S. Congress of course has had difficulty passing legislation like voting rights and increased spending on Biden’s domestic agenda that aims to provide money towards expanded healthcare, early education and even climate change.
One of the sharpest drops in confidence, according to this poll, was the presidency. Families in the U.S. are dealing with sky-high prices at the pumps and in the grocery stores and inflation is really impacting all Americans. According to this poll, the presidency saw a 15 point drop in confidence. It dropped from 38 percent last year to 23 percent this year.
