Michigan State Police in the Upper Peninsula will begin wearing body cameras this week.
State Police say the cameras will help with officer safety, documentation and investigations.
Interactions with the public have been recorded using cameras mounted in cars.
All troopers will go through training before they are equipped with the cameras.
State Police said that costs for these cameras were the largest barrier in implementing this program.
The cameras were funded with $3.8 million from the state’s general fund and a $2 million grant from the Office of Justice.
