A coastal restoration project starts Wednesday morning near Northern Michigan University’s Superior Dome.
Work starts at 7 a.m. near the intersection of Marquette’s Lakeshore Blvd. and Pine St.
The project will remove parts of the abandoned Lakeshore Blvd. roadway and improve beach access.
Environmental improvements including wetland construction, dune restoration and the addition of plants native to the Lake Superior coast.
Roads and paths will be open throughout the project, but occasional, minor traffic delays are expected.
Construction is scheduled to run until mid-June.
