ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This year’s cruise ship season has officially come to an end for the City of Escanaba.
Since May 3, three cruise lines have docked on Little Bay de Noc nearly 40 times. During those visits, the Chamber of Commerce took cruise ship passengers on bus tours to local historical sites and businesses.
According to Jim Kirby, owner of Sayklly’s Confectionery & Gifts, the passengers provided a much-needed boost in traffic during the difficult summer construction season.
“It’s been great to have the Chamber backing us, of course,” Kirby said. “Some of the people on the buses, they know the history of Sayklly’s. It’s been here since 1906, my wife being a third generation here. People like to hear that about the family businesses. They just like Escanaba. It’s a nice, quaint town, and they said a lot of them want to come back here at some time.”
Another frequent stop for passengers was Leigh’s Garden Winery. Click here for more on their experience there.
