MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Fresh Coast Film Festival wrapped up its four day run Sunday – celebrating the outdoors, the Great Lakes, and the stories that connect us to both.
The tenth annual Fresh Coast Film Festival brought filmmakers and outdoor enthusiasts from across the region to Marquette for four days of screenings, filmmaker panels, outdoor tours, and community gatherings across more than ten venues throughout the city. This year’s festival featured 94 films covering everything from Indigenous culture and conservation to skateboarding, adventure, and Great Lakes storytelling.
Filmmaker Ryan Sullivan, director of “Alchemical Artistry,” says the atmosphere at Fresh Coast is unlike any other festival. “The environment here at this festival is incredible,” says Sullivan. “I mean, Aaron (Peterson) just promotes a filmmaker forward environment and it’s just incredibly welcoming. It’s inspiring to be around all the different creatives from all over making all sorts of different stories.”
Fresh Coast returns to Marquette next October. More information and next year’s submissions can be found at freshcoastfilms.org.
