NEW YORK, NY (WZMQ) – People who eat more ultra-processed food have a higher risk of several major diseases. A global study published in the British medical journal found that the more ultra-processed food you eat, the higher the risk of cardiovascular events, cancer, obesity, diabetes, and even depression and anxiety. Ultra-processed foods include many ready-to-eat and prepackaged foods that include many additives, sugar, and salt.
The children of single mothers born through I-v-f and other medically assisted reproduction have health similar to babies conceived naturally to partnered mothers. A University College London study showed that while single mothers by choice tend to be older than other mothers and may face higher levels of stress during pregnancy, they also often have higher levels of education and income, which leads to better birth outcomes.
People with type 2 diabetes face a higher risk of cancer, and the risk is rising. That’s according to a new study in Denmark that found obesity is driving the increase, with obesity related cancers 45 percent higher in men with type 2 diabetes and 30 percent higher in women. Cancer has now become the leading cause of death among people with type 2 diabetes, and doctors say cancer prevention should be part of long-term care for patients.
