Across the state, UP North Advocacy is hosting Election Education for Everyday People Roadshows. The Roadshow in Marquette stopped at the LoveMarq Church, one of six total shows in the U.P. this election season.
The Roadshow focused on how votes in Michigan are actually counted and processed, and how voters in state can register at their local polls. The Roadshow also touched on how elections are structured in the state of Michigan, and what devices clerks use to count votes. The non-partisan show also touched on how important it is for communites to cast their ballot.
“There’s a lot of tension around elections, there’s misinformation and disinformation around elections, quite frankly,” said Former East Lansing City Clerk Marie Wicks. “I think it’s very important for people to feel reassured that their vote is going to count, and it is.”
The next Roadshow in the U.P. is scheduled for September 24 in Newberry at 3:30 p.m.
