Air pollution may increase suicide risk

A connection between air pollution and suicide

NEW YORK, NY (WZMQ) – The simple change to your diet that can improve your heart health, and how cancer patients can spend more years disease-free.

Some cancer patients could add years to their lives by doing regular structured exercise. That’s according to a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine that found cancer patients who did regular aerobic exercise, or aerobic exercise plus strength training, were 23 percent less likely to die than people who didn’t exercise, and they spent more years disease-free. The benefit was especially high for people with early-stage cancer.

Exposure to air pollution can increase suicidal thoughts and attempts. UK researchers reviewed available evidence and found that even short-term exposure to small particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide can increase suicidal thoughts. Previous studies have shown that exposure to pollution can add to depression and anxiety.

Eating 4 to 6 servings of whole grains daily reduces your risk of heart disease. Research published in the European Heart Journal showed that a diet rich in whole grains can reduce body weight, blood pressure, and the levels of cholesterol and glucose in the blood. Whole grains can be found in whole oats, brown rice, and some breads.
