ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A cozy little knitting shop in downtown Ishpeming finally got its proper welcome this afternoon.
Snow Day Fibers held its ribbon cutting at 200 East Division Street, months after first opening its doors last November. Owner Kimmie Conrad, an elementary school teacher by day, shares the space with a fellow business owner and friend. The shop sells Yarn, knitting goods, and indie-dyed fibers from the great lakes region, as well as hosting weekly fiber circles and open-stitch sessions.
“The reason I named this shop Snow Day Fibers is because for me, as a teacher, I feel like snow days are special days where I get to sit home and knit and it’s kind of like I almost stole or saved precious time for crafting,” says Conrad. “I want other people to have an opportunity when they come in here, that they too can carve out some space for themselves.”
Snow Day Fibers is open Wednesday through Saturday at 200 East Division Street. More information can be found at https://snowdayfibers.com.
