MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A beloved nonprofit is back, and this time with a permanent home.
The Art Drop Shop and studio celebrated its grand re-opening this afternoon at its new location on West Baraga Avenue in downtown Marquette.
The re-opening drew dozens of community members to explore the new space. The new studio space gives Joel and Katie, the owners of the Drop Shop, room to hosr workshops and expand partnerships across the Upper Peninsula, a fresh chapter for a community resource that’s clearly been missed.
The organization, which spent time hosting pop-up events after leaving its previous location, is dedicated to making art accessible to everyone regardless of budget. “We’re all about accessible and affordable art supplies,” says Joel Siegel, Co-Owner of the Art Drop Shop. “People would donate art supplies to us during store hours… please don’t leave it at the door. They’ll donate supplies to us and we’ll put it out on the sales floor for very, very affordable prices, like pocket change.
