NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A business in downtown Negaunee is officially in full swing Thursday afternoon after years of multi-use within its building.
Samara Floral has been open for about four years, originally set up in the back of a laundromat operated by the same owners. The washers and dryers have since been removed, and the flower side of the business took over, utilizing three Lake Superior Community Partnership grants to complete a remodel to the building.
Owner Shailah Pelto says the plan couldn’t have been brought to life without such a helpful community.
“They’ve been so welcoming and I’m so appreciative of that, because everybody knows the heart and sould of a small business is community support and patronage,” said Pelto. “I’m honored to be the florist of Negaunee, and I hope for their continued support.”
Samara Floral grows all of its plants at a local garden, located across the street from the U.P. Brewing Company. The storefront is located at 415 Iron St. in Negaunee.
