HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – With the Upper Peninsula’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching record heights during a peak tourism season, Visit Keweenaw is providing travelers and residents with extra information.
On the homepage of its website, the agency has put together an air quality page, providing current conditions, safety guidance, and how to adjust accordingly when the outdoors may not be as accessible as planned.
Visit Keweenaw says they’ve had the website on standby since February after similar conditions last summer, and that it will give visitors more options to continue enjoying a trip.
“The main message is, especially for visitors, to not cancel your trips,” said Managing Director, Jesse Weiderhold. “This is so people can make their own decisions, we want people to be mindful of their own health and do what’s best for them.”
