MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Maritime Museum is preparing for its 2026 Lake Superior Day celebration on Sunday, July 19.
Since 2019, the museum has held the event to educate younger generations on the importance of preserving our waterfronts, while sharing the history and beauty of the largest Great Lake.
This year, 13 outdoor booths from local environmental organizations, artists, and community partners will be set up around the museum for kids and their families to shuffle through.
“We try to make a really family-friendly event where kids can come, there’ll be games and different things to see,” said Museum Director Hilary Billman. “We’ll have some sea lamprey there so you can see some scary invasive species, but it’s just a place to learn and have fun.”
The free event will go from 1 p.m. through 4 p.m. in the lakeside parking lot of the museum.
