MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Several groups and organizations around the area have begun community centered events for charities and non-profits.
Among those businesses spreading awareness, Fox Marquette hosted a Drive For Your Community event on Thursday, June 11. This is the first time the auto dealership has put together a fundraiser where customers can contribute.
Fox Marquette tagged several vehicles with a sticker of the event, and for every test drive in those cars, Fox Marquette would donate $30 towards Habitat for Humanity. The total amount will be up to $6,000. While Fox Marquette has donated a portion of proceeds to charities in the past, this is the first time the business has organized an event specifically for a non-profit group.
“Every little bit helps,” said Chris Tufnell, a customer who test drove a vehicle during the event. “They’re [Habitat for Humanity] working on houses, building new houses, fixing up older houses. I’ve known a lot of people that have been involved in the project, both residents and people working on the houses.”
Fox Marquette additionally stated that several employees will be volunteering on Habitat for Humanity projects in the month of June.
