MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Early Tuesday morning, a fire broke out at an apartment building in downtown Marquette.
At approximately 5:18 a.m., the Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched to 127 W Ohio street for a reported structure fire. Crews were on scene within four minutes, encountering visible smoke and fire conditions on the first floor of the three-story residential building.
Multiple agencies attended to the scene, and after 12 minutes the fire was declared under control. All residents safely exited the building and were accounted for.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted by the Marquette City Police Department, Marquette Township Fire Department, Chocolay Township Fire Department, UPHS Unit 141, and the Marquette Board of Light and Power.
