ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Friday afternoon, a new business opened in Downtown Escanaba.
The Water Lily Gifts & Gather is located at 1113 Ludington Street. The shop offers a wide range of home goods, decor, accessories, and locally-crafted gifts.
Owned by Brandy Torvinen, The Water Lily has been in the works for about a year.
“The last month or so, we’ve been really putting together all the displays so that it’s a fun shopping vibe,” said Kelly Cox, who helped Torvinen prepare for the grand opening. “When you come in, you’re going to be looking for a while. Everything’s kind of interspersed; it’s not just a row of coffee cups. It’s more of a calming environment where you can enjoy the experience of shopping.”
Another unique aspect of the business is that it invites local vendors to share the space for pop-up sales. On Friday, Cox sold cookies in a corner of the shop. Torvinen hopes to offer crafting and social events in the future.
The Water Lily Gifts & Gather is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the spring. While Ludington Street is under construction, customers are asked to enter through the back door. Follow the business on Facebook to see more of what it has to offer.
