IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $1.4 million to resurface roughly two miles of US-2 in Dickinson County.
The project is focused on the roadway from Kent Street to Traders Mine Road in Iron Mountain. It will include asphalt cold milling, drainage structure adjustments, asphalt resurfacing, pavement markings, as well as concrete, curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs. Milling and paving will occur at night.
According to MDOT, the project is intended to extend the lifespan of the roadway and increase safety. Based on economic modeling, the investment should directly and indirectly support 12 jobs.
Work will begin May 4 and is expected to wrap up in late June. Until then, motorists can expect single-lane closures with traffic shifts.
