ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Like most Upper Michigan communities, the recent blizzard caused a great deal of disruption and hardship. Especially to the crews tasked with snow removal.
For that reason, the Ishpeming City Council passed a very special resolution tonight honoring the men and women of their Department of Public Works.
During their meeting, rescheduled due to the blizzard, each member of the council thanked the crews that cleared the roads in what they called “super-human record time”.
The council recognized their sacrifice, dedication, and skill in getting Ishpeming back to normal.
“They’ve done over 4000 hours of overtime with this winter season. They’ve had to deal with breakdowns. They’ve had to deal, obviously, with the weather. And again, I have to thank the citizens. They’ve really been very appreciative, patient, and our guys have really worked hard,” said Ishpeming City Manager Randy Scholz.
In recognition, each DPW employee will receive two additional personal days, along with the thanks of a grateful community.
