MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – If you’re in the market for an e-bike this year, a sale is happening this weekend in Marquette.
Bates Bikes is hosting its second annual tent-sale from Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29. Class 1, 2, and 3 rated e-bikes and equipment will be featured, with discounts and test rides available throughout the weekend as well. Owner Everett Bateman says he hopes to connect with new riders and trail enjoyers, showcasing one of the largest on-site selection of e-bikes in Upper Michigan.
“We’ll have a lot of free accessories and demos to be able to test ride pretty much any bike that you want,” he said. “Four brands, 75 bikes in stock, and plenty of information to share with our riders.”
While this season is expected to bring more e-bike rule enforcement in Marquette, working to educate its customers on proper usage within the city is the shop’s main focus right now.
“We roll with the changes because it’s all about accessibility for different riders,” said Bateman. “As soon as you see some of those new rules pop up, all of our bikes will be following those rules, but its up to the rider to still ride with some type of etiquette.”
Bates Bikes also advocates for a personal buying experience, especially for new riders, in hopes to build those stronger relations within the city.
“A rider can go online and buy pretty much any e-bike,” said Bateman. “We want to be able to inform our rider what they’re buying, and how and where to ride those bikes.”
New regulations are anticipated for public release in the near future.
