Huskies won all 18 sets
HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men’s and women’s tennis teams both defeated St. Norbert 7-0 in the season and home opener on Sunday at the Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies won all 18 matchups on the day.
The women’s team competed first to start the day. Emily Rose and Bella Bigari played No. 1 doubles, and Alexandra Nikonenko and Katerina Khardina played in the No. 2 spot. Both won 6-1. Anamarija Ukic and Efthymia Vasiliki Konstantatou swept 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles position.
Bella Bigari won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles position. Alexandra Nikonenko took down her opponent 6-1, 6-2 in the two spot. Emily Cojocaru went 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Emily Rose won 6-2, 6-0. Caoimhe McDonnell and Anamarija Ukic both had 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Ian Pinnoo and Laurent Teysseire fought to a 7-5 doubles victory in the No. 1 spot. Landon Coates and Sarth Bansode were victorious in the two-spot, 6-1. Andres Horobeanu and Sabri Laphitz teamed up for a 6-1 win in the No. 3 position.
Landon Coates won 6-1, 6-2 in his No. 1 singles match. Laurent Teysseire took his opponent 6-1, 6-0. Sabri Laphitz came out with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles. Ian Pinnoo edged 6-2, 6-1, Andres Horobeanu won 6-0, 6-1, and Sarth Bansode won his match 6-2, 6-1.
Tech returns to action next weekend with a road trip to Hillsdale on Saturday and Northwood on Sunday.
