First for Wildcats since Jake Mayon in 2018
| MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan football standouts Noah Dobert and Jax Hertel have been selected to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region 3 First Team, becoming the first Wildcats to earn the honor since Jake Mayon in 2018. Dobert adds the regional nod to a decorated season that already includes GLIAC Offensive Back of the Year. The redshirt freshman put together one of the most prolific rushing campaigns in program history, highlighted by a record-breaking 406-yard, four-touchdown outing at Wayne State. That performance helped him close the year with NMU single-season records in rushing yards (1,656) and rushing touchdowns (15). He ranked third nationally with 150.5 rushing yards per game and stood among Division II’s best in total yardage and yards per carry (6.3). His effort at Wayne State also netted his third GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award and the D2Football.com National Offensive Player of the Week honor. Behind Dobert, NMU set a new team record with 3,123 rushing yards. Hertel, a junior linebacker, earned a First Team spot after serving as the backbone of the Wildcat defense. He posted a team-high 101 tackles, finishing third in the GLIAC, and led the conference with 14.5 tackles for loss. Hertel’s production stretched across the stat sheet, adding three quarterback hits, six pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a pick-six while starting all 11 games. |
