Lac La Belle, Mich. (WZMQ) – Since 2018, Mount Bohemia has been on an elite list, quietly gaining a following and ranking among North America’s top five ski resorts. And this year is no different. USA Today just released its list of the very best ski resorts in North America, and our very own Mount Bohemia is ranked number three, ahead of some pretty big names like Aspen and Vail in Colorado.
“At Mount Bohemia, we run a really simple operation, but we give you a lot of adventure,” said Mount Bohemia President Lonie Glieberman.
Mount Bohemia sits at the end of the road, a true skier’s paradise. Mount Bohemia is an expert’s only ski resort with not a lot of frills. It’s not easy to get to, and once you arrive, you won’t find a five-star restaurant or valet parking. What you will find is skiing… in its purest form.
“Skiing through the woods is a completely different sport from skiing wide open runs. Yeah, some people like open runs, but those who like trees will love Bohemia. It makes you feel like a kid again, exclaimed Glieberman.
Though not as large as some of the others on the list. Mount Bohemia packs all the best in a more compact package.
“Mount Bohemia has all the things that you look for in a great Colorado ski resort, just here, it’s all more compact, said Glieberman.
And as a high tide rises, all boats. Mount Bohemia’s success is good news for skiing throughout the U.P.
“People on their way to or from Mount Bohemia will stop at Marquette Mountain, or they’ll stop at Ski Brule. A lot of these other ski areas don’t even realize the reciprocal traffic they get,” said Brandon Croney, owner of The Compound Ski Shop.
Mount Bohemia is planning to open Saturday December 6th. The earliest opening in the resort’s 25-year history.
