NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan State Police (MSP) has announced that First Lieutenant Jeremy Hauswirth has been appointed as the new commander of the Negaunee Post. Hauswirth shifts into this role after having served as the Iron Mountain Post commander since November 2020.
Hauswirth enlisted with the Michigan State Police in 1999 and graduated as a member of the 118th Trooper Recruit School. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of assignments, including at the Gladstone Post, Negaunee Post, Iron Mountain Post, and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET). He has held several ranks, including trooper, detective trooper, uniform sergeant, detective sergeant, and first lieutenant.
A proud Upper Peninsula native, Hauswirth is a graduate of Rudyard High School. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. In addition to his leadership within the MSP, Hauswirth has contributed to criminal justice education in the region by teaching courses at Bay College in Escanaba.
