ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Downtown Escanaba.
Wednesday morning, students from North Country Electrical Line School began decorating the Christmas tree at the city’s Center Court. They went up in a bucket truck to carefully set the star at the top and place strands of multi-colored lights across the branches.
North Country student Cody Miron says it is rewarding to be part of the community-wide holiday celebration.
“I just enjoy bringing Christmas cheer to the city and all that,” he said. “I really like the North Country Electrical Line School—a lot of good people, a lot of good instructors. I think it’s good that the line school is very involved with the community, as community is very important.”
Third graders at Escanaba Upper Elementary School are hand-crafting ornaments to hang on the tree. They will get to decorate it themselves next week.
A tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for November 25 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with music by the Escanaba City Band and an appearance by Santa Claus. The tree lighting is part of the Escanaba DDA’s Black Friday on Tuesday shopping event. For more information on the day’s activities, click here.
