MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Dr Abdul El-Sayed is taking his campaign on the road with his “Open Our Health Care” tour kicking off here in the U.P. and stretching across Michigan. The goal? To spark a conversation about America’s Healthcare System and the growing number of Michiganders being priced out of medical care.

“I want to come here to learn from folks understand what is on their minds share a bit about what we’re learning be able to exchange information to talk about what we can do to build the kind of place where we are finally getting money out of politics, putting money back in people’s pockets, and passing guaranteed healthcare with “Medicare for all.” said Dr. El-Sayed

Dr. El-Sayed is proposing big Solutions in Washington, like expanding Medicare to cover every American and stopping Hospital mergers that limit care and choices.

“So the only way to guarantee that folks in rural communities get access to the healthcare they deserve is to make sure the re-imbursement that comes with everybody’s body, whether you are rural or urban, is fair,” said Dr. El-Sayed.

he says he wants to call out billionaires and special interest groups to get money out of politics.

“They get to leave here and go to DC and make these decisions in you know, closed off rooms with their fellow lawmakers to make sure that their donors who spent millions of dollars to get them elected make a little bit more every year,” said Dr. El-Sayed.

Voters I spoke with who attended tonight’s event like what they heard.

“He’s the only person I’ve seen running for any office and number of years who does not want corporate money poisoning politics,” said Marquette resident Joseph Lavey.

“I really appreciate how truly educated and engaged he is, especially when it comes to Health Care,” said Marquette resident Bailey Lewis.

Dr. El-Sayed will be in Houghton tomorrow, meeting students and faculty at Michigan Tech.
