ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – An annual effort to help those in need this winter is now underway in Delta County.
The Bay College and LSSU Business Professionals of America are hosting their Warm Coats for Warm Hearts campaign. The group is collecting new or like-new coats, hats, gloves, snowpants, and other winter gear, all of which will be donated to the Tri-County Safe Harbor and the Salvation Army.
Co-chair Marcy Dugree says the campaign is a chance to do some good, as well as an opportunity for the students involved to gain experience working in their community.
“The three pillars of BPA—Business Professionals of America—is leadership development, workplace skill assessment, and community service,” said Dugree. “We want to volunteer our time, talents, and treasures to our community and kind of give back to those who might need the extra help this coming winter because it gets cold up here.”
Collection boxes are set up at the Bay College HUB, the YMCA athletics buildings, Elmer’s County Market, Delta Church, Pat’s Foods in Gladstone, Integra First Federal Credit Union in Powers, and Massie’s Country Market in Bark River. All sizes of winter clothing will be accepted.
