Ylitalo, Annala led Wildcats
AUGUSTA, Mich. – The NMU men’s golf team wrapped up competition at the DU Panther Invite, finishing seventh of 12 teams.
The ‘Cats shot a two-round score of +50, shaving ten strokes off of its opening round to shoot a second round +20. The full results from today and the tournament can be found here.
The duo of Harvey Ylitalo and Tyler Annala paced the Wildcats, both shooting a two-day score of +11 to finish just outside of the top 30. Ylitalo had the better day two, shaving seven strokes off his first round score to shoot a +2 (73). Ylitalo had a great start and back nine today, opening his second round with three birdies four pars in his opening eight holes, starting his second round -2 through eight before shooting a -2 (33) on the back nine. Annala had a stretch of holes that saw him shoot -1 in five holes on the back nine, birdieing the par-five 16th.
Brady Badker competed as an individual, shooting a +11 today after opening his tournament with a +2. Badker recorded nine pars, and finished as the third-best ‘Cat on the field.
Jacob Daavettila and Levi Pennala both finished their respective tournaments at +14, carding the second and third-best rounds on the day for the team at +5 and +6, respectively. Daavettila and Pennala both birdied the par-four 12th, and Daavetilla recorded another circle on the par-five 16th.
Arthur Ylitalo carded a second-round +9 for a two-day total of +23 to round out the ‘Cats in the field.
