WASHINGTON, D.C. (WZMQ) – For the unforeseeable future, public access to our National Parks will be limited. Varying site to site, staff will be unavailable to issue permits, provide visitor information, or conduct general maintenance, although many public areas will remain open.
WZMQ 19 News has obtained a comment from the National Parks Service (NPS) Office of Pubic Affairs, stating:
“The National Park Service will continue to keep parks as accessible as possible during the lapse in appropriations. Critical functions that protect life, property, and public health will remain in place, including visitor access in many locations, law enforcement, and emergency response.”
