MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Presidential Search Advisory Committee has announced that four finalists will visit campus between today and October 10th.
The first candidate to visit the campus is John C. Hayek, Vice Chancellor for Academic and Health Affairs for the Texas State University system. Where he provides academic leadership across four universities and three state colleges, advancing excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Earlier today Dr. Hayek met members of the search committee, and then with faculty and staff, as well as students. 19 News spoke with Dr. Hayek about what his first impressions are of NMU’s campus and personnel.
“Just its access mission, its high quality faculty, the amazing connection between the institution and the community, its gorgeous scenery and the beauty of the place, to me, it’s like what’s not to like?,” said Dr. Hayek.
Each of the four finalists will meet with students, faculty, staff, and community members during each of their two-day visits. Public receptions will be held at the northern center during each visit.
The board of trustees will make a final decision after interviews have concluded in mid-October.
