ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, a new semester began for students at Bay College’s Escanaba and Iron Mountain campuses.
Last fall, more than 2,000 students signed up for classes, marking Bay’s highest enrollment since 2014. Students are still registering this week, but the numbers are looking even higher this year.
It is also a year of growth for the college’s course catalogue. Bay has established new community partnerships for its paramedic program, and the Iron Mountain campus has a new EMT program. The college is also working with the Delta Area Transit Authority to expand transportation opportunities for students.
Travis Blume, Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, says faculty and staff are excited to welcome students back to Bay College.
“It’s a great energy here as students are arriving on campus for their first day,” he said. “A lot of faculty and staff are around trying to help students find their locations. That’s a really great thing here about Bay, we’re all here to help students as they start out their education journey or return back for their next year. It’s great to see their faces on campus getting connected to each other again.”
Both Bay College locations will host “welcome back” picnics to help students acclimate to life on campus.
