ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Department of Public Safety is looking into the cause of a residential fire that occurred on Monday.
At approximately 2:37 p.m., Escanaba Public Safety officers were dispatched to 1st Avenue South for a report of smoke and flames coming from the roof of a home. When they arrived, officers evacuated several people from a neighboring apartment complex, which had begun to catch fire.
The residential fire was quickly brought under control, and the apartment complex sustained minor damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted on scene by the Ford River Township Fire Department, the City of Escanaba Electric Department, the City of Escanaba Water Department, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, DTE, the Red Cross, and Delta County Central Dispatch.
