MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, Northern Michigan University held its 2025 fall semester kick-off Fall Convention. This breakfast event was a chance for the community of NMU to come together before the craziness of the year starts.
This event had multiple speakers, including Academic Senate Chair Tim Compton, Associated Students President Casidy Gibson, Dale Kapla, and more. Speakers touched on all the new additions and updates for the university and campus this upcoming year.
Some updates announced were that the university is still in search for a new president, the addition to the science building has been finished, the Olson library is on track to finish in the winter semester, and enrollment has increased for this upcoming semester.
“This campus just has an energy as people are coming back with the students getting here, we have some athletes already on campus,” said Gavin Leach, Vice President for Finance and Administration.
