Marley’s Irish Pub celebrates grand opening in Manistique

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – An old Manistique business has new ownership and a new life.

Schoolcraft Tourism and Commerce conducted a ribbon cutting at Marley’s Irish Pub, located at 127 Walnut Street. After more than two decades in the industry, owner Erika Karavas says she learned about the pub in a book titled Haunted Bars & Pubs of Michigan, which describes the building’s history as far back as the early 1890s.

“I jokingly asked if it was for sale and it was,” she laughed. “I fell in love with it.”

The pub offers Irish dishes like Reubens and shepherd’s pie, as well as a full menu of beers, wines, and cocktails. Karavas says she is excited to welcome customers inside to enjoy what Marley’s has to offer.

“Creating a home-away-from-home atmosphere is what we really want to do,” said Karavas. “I want people to feel welcome as soon as they walk in because that’s what an Irish pub is to me. People can expect to have great drinks, have a good time, listen to live music, have good food, have good talks.”

Karavas and her team are looking forward to becoming part of the Schoolcraft County business community.

“It kind of feels like I came home,” she said. “I feel very comfortable and confident. I love this place!”

Marley’s Irish Pub is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from noon to midnight, from noon to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The pub’s website—marleysirishpub.com—is currently under construction, but patrons can keep up with Marley’s on Facebook.
