ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Michigan State Police are looking to identify an ATV driver who took off from them during an attempted traffic stop in Ishpeming.
According to their press release, they tried pulling the man over on Greenwood Street near Willow Street on May 9. Troopers did not pursue due to the suspect driving recklessly and endangering public safety. He is described as white, wearing a black shirt, a blue motocross-style helmet and no goggles. Later in the day, MSP saw a man matching the description along the trail near North Washington Street. The man noticed the patrol car and fled on foot into a wooded area where he had stashed the ATV and fleeing the scene again.
MSP is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone with information on the suspect to contact their Negaunee Post at (906) 475-9922.
