ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Escanaba’s Municipal Marina is almost ready for another summer on Little Bay de Noc.
In preparation for opening day on Monday, May 5, marina staff are turning on utilities and working on landscaping along the docks. Throughout the season, they plan to replace buoys, place a new sign on the fuel dock, and upgrade security cameras.
Between returning slipholders and a full waiting list, Harbormaster Kim Peterson expects this year to be about as busy as last year.
“I am confident that we’re going to have another great season,” she said. “We have a good start. We’re working on a five-year plan, and we’re looking forward to going after some grant dollars because we know bigger projects aren’t going to be done without that. We have a good staff this year and we have some experience now, so hopefully it’ll be another smooth sailing year.”
From May 5 to June 6, the Municipal Marina will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On June 7, hours will be extended to 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
