Lakosky and Langsdale Sweep GLIAC Weekly Honors |
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The NMU lacrosse team has swept the GLIAC Weekly Honors, earning both offensive and defensive player of the week. A sophomore forward from Victoria, Minnesota, Josie Lakosky has earned her fourth GLIAC Player of the Week honor this season. The reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year turned in a solid performance, including a hat-trick and a pair of ground balls and caused turnovers, marking only the second time this season and fourth time in her career that Lakosky has recorded a hat trick and 2+ ground balls and caused turnovers in the same game. Lakosky started in her 35th consecutive game on Saturday, where she scored two crucial goals just 16 seconds apart in the fourth quarter to give NMU a two-goal lead, and is setting career-highs in every offensive statistical category. A sophomore defender from Rochester, Minnesota, Sophie Lansgdale has earned her first-career GLIAC weekly honor thanks to her efforts in the 9-8 win over CSP on senior day to end the regular season. Langsdale had a phenomenal day on the field, posting a career-high four caused turnovers (the most by any Wildcat in a single game this season) to go along with a pair of ground balls. After appearing in only six contests last season, Langsdale has played in all seventeen games this season, including earning a starting role in eight of the last nine games. Langsdale is coming into her own as a sophomore, as she is one of just three Wildcats to have 17+ ground balls and 10+ caused turnovers this year.
