MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Chippewa County man has been arrested in connection with a vehicle theft.
Just after 8 a.m. on March 18, the Marquette City Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from the 600 block of West Washington Street. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle at various locations in southern Marquette County during the morning hours. At approximately 9:00 a.m., the vehicle was found unoccupied on the 600 block of West Bluff Street in Marquette.
During the investigation, a suspect was identified and located in the 400 block of West Bluff Street. The individual, a 27-year-old Chippewa County resident temporarily staying in Marquette, was arrested and lodged at the Marquette County Jail.
The man arrested faces a felony charge for unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and a 90-day misdemeanor for operating a vehicle without a license. Authorities are not releasing the individual’s name until his arraignment.
