Three Huskies named to CCHA All-Rookie Team

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech freshmen Rylan Brown, Elias Jansson, and Logan Morrell were named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team the league announced on Tuesday.
 
Brown, a defenseman from Sherwood Park, Alberta, skated in all 36 games for the Huskies, tallying three goals and 15 assists. He registered 56 shots on goal and blocked 28 shots. He had a pair of power-play goals and scored the game-winner against St. Thomas (Dec. 6). In CCHA games, Brown ranked third in points amongst conference defensemen with three goals and 17 assists. He had four multi-point games and was named the CCHA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 17.
 
Jansson, a forward from Oulu, Finland, played in all 36 games in his first season and led the Huskies with 12 goals. He added 11 assists for 23 points which ranked fourth on the team. Jansson scored six power-play goals and scored game-winners against Alaska (Oct. 11) in overtime and against Northern Michigan (Jan. 24). He scored a hat trick against Bemidji State (Feb. 8) in Winter Carnival. In CCHA games, Jansson led CCHA rookies with 10 goals and 10 assists while scoring five power-play goals. He ranked fourth in power-play goals and sixth in goals while having five multi-point games, and was one of six players with a hat trick. Jansson was named the CCHA Rookie of the Month for February and earned four CCHA Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Morrell, a forward from Mesa, Arizona, appeared in 32 games and tallied 21 points with 11 goals and 10 assists. He ranked second on the team in goals and was third with a plus-5 rating. He ranked second in the CCHA in faceoff winning percentage (.591) during the regular season. Morrell scored four power-play goals and four game-winning goals at Bowling Green (Nov. 29), versus Northern Michigan (Dec. 30), against Holy Cross (Jan. 4), and at Northern Michigan Jan. 25). In CCHA games, Morrell registered 16 points with nine goals and seven assists. He had four multi-point games and was named the CCHA Rookie of the Month for December while twice earning CCHA Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Voting for the 2024-25 All-CCHA Teams and year-end awards was conducted by the nine head coaches at each CCHA member institution, based on CCHA conference games only. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
