MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette County will soon have a new administrator.
In a 3 1/2 hour County Commission meeting the board interviewed 3 candidates for the position of county administrator. The commission questioned the candidates for an hour each and finally decided on former Marquette township administrator Dennis Liimatta. Liimatta will assume the position after longtime administrator Scott Erbish announced his retirement in January after 14 years in the position. Liimatta is a graduate of Northern Michigan University and has always considered Marquette his home.
“Marquette County is just a gem, and to have an opportunity to help move that along, help to make sure that Marquette County stays successful both in the short and the long term. What an amazing opportunity, what a great job to have,” said Liimitta.
Liimatta will be leaving his current position as administrator of Grand Blanc Township.
