ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday, one of the Bonifas Arts Center’s most unique exhibits opened to the public.
All Mixed Up is a showcase of mixed media art. Artists could submit any type of work as long as it was made with two or more mediums.
The exhibit features 70 pieces by 35 artists from the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. Mixed media combinations include painting and found objects, photography and poetry, and metal, fabric, and wood.
“What we wanted to do was highlight all of the unique opportunities that the U.P. offers to be able to give us those options,” said Gallery Director Kate Oman. “We have some eco-printed pieces from items that were found throughout the U.P. It’s neat for other artists to see how different mediums and techniques are used, but also for the public to see that there is so much that can be done with very few materials.”
All Mixed Up is free to view through February 20th. The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite pieces when they visit.
The Bonifas Arts Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
