It's wonderful because it's so accessible. You know it's really supposed to inspire, play, and joy. And that's the whole purpose of this exhibit is to get people interacting to you know with each other and trying to create different sounds, with each other. So very joyful and something to brighten up these dark winter nights for sure.

These pods emit sounds and lights when approached by visitors

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A very special art exhibit is now on display at the Marquette Commons. It’s called “Oscillation,” an interactive, temporary art installation where light, sound, and movement combine to make for a one-of-a-kind experience. Visitors are encouraged to touch the exhibit, walk around, and explore just how your movements and proximity to the structures create vivid colors and interesting sounds.

Oscillation uses sensors to detect movement, and this interaction creates the sights and sounds of the holidays. The display is presented by the DDA, Travel Marquette, and the Marquette Public Art Commission. Arts and Culture Manager Tiina Morin says each experience is unique to that person.

“It’s wonderful because it’s so accessible. You know it’s really supposed to inspire, play, and joy. And that’s the whole purpose of this exhibit is to get people interacting to you know, interact with each other and trying to create different sounds, with each other. So very joyful and something to brighten up these dark winter nights for sure,” said Morin.

The interactive display is free and open to all ages. Oscillation will run each day from 7 am to 10 pm until January 5th.
