SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is preparing for the holiday season with its annual pop-up shop and an upcoming Empty the Shelters event.
The UPAWS Holiday Pop-Up Shop returns on Black Friday, Nov. 29, and continues through the month of December. It has moved from the longtime location in the Westwood Mall and will now be at the shelter located at 815 S M-553, Gwinn.
On Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, the pop-up shop will have 10% off most retail items. A portion of each sale goes back to the shelter to help with operations and finding animals loving homes.
Hours for the pop-up shop are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. UPAWS will update shop hours after the weekend in the coming days. Check its Facebook and website for more.
UPAWS is also again teaming up with the Bissell Pet Foundation for “Empty the Shelters & UPAWS Holiday Hope” from Dec. 1 through Dec. 17. Dogs six months and older will be $50, cats six months and older will be $10, and small animals will be free.
