Four from Wisconsin
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Matt Majkrzak and the Northern Michigan men’s basketball team have added seven to National Letters of Intent on National Signing Day 2024. Nathan Fife, Pryce Gregoire, Keller Hanson, Brooks Hinson, Andrew Murphy, Trevor Polite, and Ross Robertson will join the Wildcats as freshmen in 2025-26.
“While most of the country has shifted their focus to the portal, we have doubled down on our commitment to recruiting high school student-athletes,” said Majkrzak. “This class of 7 has a chance to develop into one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Our staff worked tirelessly this summer to recruit top players from four different states. With players this talented, they had many different options, and we are overjoyed they have chosen Northern Michigan as their home. Basketball wise, they all fit a specific style, and will play beautiful, unselfish basketball. Most importantly, they are great people from great families that will fit perfectly into the culture of NMU Basketball, Northern Michigan University, and the Marquette community.”
Nathan Fife | 6’1″ | Guard
Sanderson High School, North Carolina
Fife led Sanderson to a Cap-6 Conference Championship, was named All-Conference, and averaged 21.4 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Nate has taken the Spartans further and further in the playoffs each year. He played for SW15H Elite and Coach Scott Wood in the summer.
Majkrzak on Fife: “Nathan is an elite scorer and passer whose game translates perfectly to college basketball. He’s elite in the ball screen and off-ball screening actions. His shooting ability sets up a variety of scoring options, and his passing flare is fun to watch and play with. Nathan is a tenacious competitor that has a nose for the ball and will make plays on the defensive side of the floor.”
Pryce Gregoire | 6’6″ | Wing
De Pere High School, Wisconsin
Pryce joins the Wildcats as a 2023 State Champion after a 30-0 season with De Pere High School. As a junior, Pryce averaged 10.4 points and 3 rebounds per game as De Pere went 26-2. Pryce has scored 482 points and shot 42% from 3 so far in his career. Pryce also has made a major impact on the defensive end, typically guarding the opponent’s best player. Pryce played for Davis Brothers Elite and Coach Chris Siebert in the summer.
Majkrzak on Gregoire: “Pryce is a winner. He’s played for one of the best high school programs in the country. He’s an elite shooter that understands how to play the game and move without the ball in his hands. Similar to these other guys he will create a lot of mismatches inside and out. Pryce uses great length and athleticism combined with a tenacious demeanor to be a great defender.”
Keller Hanson | 6’6″ | Wing
Sauk Rapids-Rice High School, Minnesota
Hanson averaged 17.4 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists a game last year as Sauk Rapids’ finished 18-9 and in 3rd place in Class 2A. Keller had 31 points in a win over Fergus Falls. Keller played for the Minnesota Comets and Coach Chris Lewis in the summer.
Majkrzak on Hanson: “Keller is known as a dead-eye three point shooter. He’s one of the best shooters in the Midwest on catch and shoots, ball screen, and off ball actions. We think Keller’s very underrated in other areas, and his game is growing to include highlight dunks and aggressive drives. He uses his 6’6 frame to play great positional defense, and gives you lots of options as a big guard.”
Brooks Hinson 6’1″ Guard
Marshfield High School, Wisconsin
Brooks led Marshfield High School to a 25-3 record averaging 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in his junior season. He was named First Team All-Conference as a sophomore and junior and Player of the Year and Division 1 WBCA All-State in his junior season. Brooks has scored 1,116 points and is nearing the school’s all-time leading scorer record. Brooks played for the Wisconsin Playmakers and Coach Toby Hegner in the summer.
Majkrzak on Hinson: “Brooks is the epitome of an NMU point guard. He’s a leader that takes care of the ball and makes sure his team is getting the best possible shot each possession. Brooks is equally comfortable scoring from all three levels and setting up his teammates. Defensively he will make an impact from day one being able to pick up opposing point guard’s full court.”
Andrew Murphy | 6’5″ | Forward
Verona High School, Wisconsin
Murphy averaged 23 points per game and led Verona to a 15-11 record and 12-6 in the prestigious Big Eight Conference. Drew has scored 1,194 points so far in his high school career. Drew was named Honorable Mention All-State in Division 1 by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Drew played for the Wisconsin Swing and Coach Justin Litscher in the summer.
Majkrzak on Murphy: “Drew is a perfect pick and pop forward that can score in a bunch of ways. He’s an outstanding three point shooter, which sets up a really creative scoring package. Drew is great on the block, driving, and uses his IQ to find soft spots in the defense. Defensively he’s got great positional size and knows the right spots to be at all times.”
Ross Robertson | 6’8″ | Forward
South Beloit High School, Illinois
Ross has already had an outstanding career with still a year to play. As the school’s all-time leading scorer, Ross has scored 2,082 points. In his junior season, Ross averaged 25 points, 15 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3 blocks per game. He had 328 field goals and 470 rebounds which was 6th and 16th all-time in the state of Illinois, respectively. Ross was named Class 1A First Team All-State by the Illinois High School Association. Ross played for Davis Brothers Elite and Coach Chris Siebert in the summer.
Majkrzak on Robertson: Ross is the most versatile in a class that prides itself on versatility. He’s a 6’8 enforcer that combines strength and athleticism with his background as a point guard for his high school team. He’s a tremendous passer to complement his prolific scoring. Ross is a rebounding machine that competes with a burning intensity. He will be a great rim protector, but is quick enough to keep guards in front.”
Trevor Polite 6’6″ Guard
Homestead High School, Wisconsin
Trevor averaged 13.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists per game and led Homestead to a 20-7 record last season. He was named 2nd Team All-North Shore Conference as a junior. Trevor had a season high of 33 points in a win at Hartford. He has 757 points and 392 rebounds in his career and led Homestead to back-to-back 20 win seasons. Trevor played for Chapman Basketball Academy and Coach Joe Chapman.
Majkrzak on Polite: “Trevor is one of the most talented players we’ve had commit to NMU. However, his biggest strength is his IQ. He can do everything on the offensive side of the floor. At 6’6 he can play point guard, post up smaller guards, and attack bigger players from the perimeter. Defensively, Trevor has a chance to be one of the best defenders in the GLIAC from day one.”
