How It Happened
In a fast-paced first period with barely any stoppages, the Mavericks opened the scoring with Will Hillman potting his first of the season. Hillman walked in down to the left faceoff dot before firing a wicked wrister past Ouellette’s ear on the short side.
The next goal came with just over four minutes to go in the second period. After some lengthy sustained offensive zone time, the Mavericks were able to score as Ralfs Bergmanis fired a seeing-eye shot through a sea of skaters that beat a screened Ouellette.
The Mavericks would ice the game after an empty net goal came with under a minute left to play.
