GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday Gladstone Public Safety and the Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire.
According to a Facebook post by Gladstone Public Safety, heavy smoke was coming from the eaves of the house when responders arrived. They saw flames in the kitchen area through a window that had vented from the heat.
Due to the heavy smoke in and around the residence, firefighters initially had zero visibility. The responding departments fought the fire, which had extended into the attic, for approximately 2.5 hours.
No injuries were reported, but the family pet was lost in the fire. The house sustained significant damage.
