Julia Pietila named to First Team
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech women’s soccer senior forward Julia Pietila and junior defender Olivia Gette have earned GLIAC awards with Pietila earning the All-GLIAC First Team at-large nomination while Gette was tabbed to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention team.
Pietila, a native of Hartland, Michigan, led the Huskies offensively with six goals, including two game-winners to go with two assists. She produced a team-leading 55 shots with 28 on goal, logging 1,352 minutes starting all 18 games for the Black & Gold this season. She recorded two multiple-goal games in her senior campaign, with two goals in the win over Davenport (Sept. 20th) and two goals and an assist in the 6-0 win at Roosevelt (Sept. 29th). She finished the season with a team-high 14 points and was an All-GLIAC Second Team honoree last season.
Gette, hailing from North Oaks, Minnesota, started 15 games for Michigan Tech, logging 1,197 minutes on the backline after appearing in 12 games a season ago. She played all 90 minutes in 10 games this season and was a key piece defensively in the six shutouts Michigan Tech accrued in 2024. She produced 15 shots with 11 on goal, with her season-high coming at Ferris State with four shots and three on target.
Michigan Tech finished 6-11-1 overall and 4-9-1 in the GLIAC under the guidance of first-year head coach Melissa Kuhar.
