What’s UP with Megan: Trick-or-treat in Downtown Marquette this Saturday

by Sarah Blakely
October 24, 2024
A A

Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins – oh my! Tonight on What’s UP with Megan, I’m taking you right outside the studio for a family-fun Halloween event!

The sidewalks of Downtown Marquette are set to come alive with costumed children as families are invited to participate in the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat. From 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 26 evening, trick-or-treaters can easily identify participating businesses by looking for the Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat poster displayed in the windows. In addition, some locations will display teal pumpkins, indicating they offer non-candy items as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, which aims to ensure that all children can enjoy Halloween!

To enhance the safety of the little ones, the 100 and 200 blocks of W. Washington will be closed, allowing children to navigate the busy center with ease while visiting shops. Please note that the Downtown Marquette Social District will also be closed during downtown trick-or-treat time, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., to further enhance safety for everyone involved

Join the Marquette community in celebrating this spooky season and make sure to stop by participating businesses for some delightful treats!

There are lots of events taking place this week, but here are five events taking place on Saturday:

  1. This Saturday is National Make a Difference Day! Celebrated on the fourth Saturday of October each year, National Make a Difference Day is a day to encourage people to volunteer and contribute to their communities.
  1. My church, St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette will hold its Fall Bazaar from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., featuring lunch, baked goods, jewelry, and raffle baskets to support church needs.
  1. The Downtown Iron Mountain Pumpkin Walk is from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. CENTRAL, offering free activities for all ages, including Trunk & Treat, a costume contest, and more. More information can be found at downtownironmountain.com.
  1. The ninth annual Fright Night at the Drive-in movie theater in Manistique will begin at dusk with the 2002 live-action “Scooby Doo”, followed by the 1996 classic, “Scream”. Admission to Fright Night is FREE! More information can be found on Facebook!
  1. Finally, this event is taking place all weekend long –  The Haunted Hoist House at Quincy Mine runs from tomorrow through Saturday, 7 p.m.–10:30 p.m. Visitors will explore dimly lit areas of the mine, encountering clowns, mannequins, and ghosts. Tickets are available at the Quincy Mine gift shop/visitor center.
