ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This weekend, Marine Corps Detachment 444 is inviting families to the U.P. State Fairgrounds to have some fun and support a special cause.
Saturday, October 5 is the sixth annual Fall Family Fun Day. The event will take place at the Antique Village from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Law enforcement, first responders, and local businesses will have their work vehicles on site for the kids’ Touch a Truck event. There will also be a bounce house and carnival games for children 8 and younger. The Spook House will make its return this year to provide entertainment for older kids.
The whole family can enjoy a silent auction, photo opportunities, and food from the village Cook Shack. Afterward, attendees will be able to take a pumpkin home with them while supplies last.
The only cost to attend Fall Family Fun Day is a donation of a new, unwrapped toy or cash to Toys for Tots. The event serves as the kickoff for this holiday season’s campaigns in Delta and Menominee Counties.
“We gave toys to more than 2,000 kids last year,” said Toy Coordinator John Jamison. “We don’t want any kid to wake up Christmas morning without a toy under the tree, so we’re always looking for ways to raise funds and to get more toys to give out to more kids.”
